C is for Cornflake Cookies

We made some ccc...cool cornflake cookies for phonics today because we are learning about the letter C.  We brainstormed lots of things that we could cook that start with the letter c, like carrot cake. We measured the ingredients, mixed it all together, formed the cookie balls and baked them in the oven. Then we iced the cookies and sprinkled hundreds and thousands on them... Yum, yum, yum!!

5 spiky starfish

In maths we are learning to identify the numerals to ten and we are learning to count one-to-one using materials.  Mrs Waldron read a starfish rhyme and we looked at pictures of real starfish.  We counted 5 starfish arms, then we cut and glued 5 starfish into our rockpools.  We also practiced forming the number 5 correctly.

Gingerbread men.... which one is the biggest?

In maths, we are learning about length and area.  We are using the language of length in class often.
Mrs Whitfield read us the gingerbread story and then we practiced comparing the size of our gingerbread men.  We also practiced our cutting and counting skills at the same time.
